In August 2015, members of the Sutton Coldfield Local History Research Group visited this ancient site which is situated near Lichfield.
Letocetum is the ancient remains of a Roman Settlement which reached its peak during the 2nd and 3rd centuries. After the Romans left in 5th century, the settlement went into decline. The present village of Wall occupies some of this land.
There are many features of the settlement still visible including bathrooms and channels and in the small museum, ornate tiles, lead figures and bronze cosmetic and ornamental artifacts can be viewed.
Local archaeologist Mike Hodder guided us around the site and shared with us his vast knowledge of the area and its history followed by a short tour of the village and it's church.
